Snap for Sale answers a question every shopper and reseller asks dozens of times a month: “Is this actually worth it?” You snap a photo, we identify the product, search the platforms that matter, and tell you the realistic price range — in about three seconds.
How it works
Every analysis runs through a four-step pipeline. We expose timing for each step on each result so you can see where the answer comes from.
- Identify. Your photo goes to a Google Gemini vision model. The response includes the product's likely name, brand, model, category, and a confidence rating (high, medium, or low).
- Search. We query six marketplaces in parallel — Taobao and 1688 (China), Amazon US, Alibaba International, eBay, and TikTok Shop — plus Datafiniti aggregating Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and Newegg. Specs and titles are translated where needed.
- Filter. A second AI pass classifies which results are actually relevant to your product (same brand, same category, same model where possible) and drops the obvious noise.
- Score. Margins, demand, competition, and supply quality combine into a single sell-or-pass score, with a per-platform breakdown so you can audit it.
Where the data comes from
We don't scrape platforms ourselves — we use licensed data providers and platforms' own APIs. Today our data sources include:
- Taobao and TikTok Shop (via JustOneAPI)
- 1688, Amazon US, and Alibaba International (via TMAPI)
- eBay (via the official eBay Buy API)
- Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and Newegg (via Datafiniti's aggregated retail dataset)
- USD ↔ CNY conversion uses European Central Bank reference rates served by Frankfurter, cached for 12 hours.
Snap for Sale is not affiliated with any of these platforms. Their names and trademarks belong to them. We provide a research and aggregation layer on top of public listings.
What we believe
- Confidence is a feature. When the AI is unsure, we say so on the result page rather than dressing up a guess. You can correct the identification and re-run search at any time, free.
- Your photos are yours. We store images privately, tied to your account, and delete them when you delete the account. They are not used to train third-party models without your explicit consent.
- Estimates are estimates. Real prices depend on listing quality, location, condition, and timing — we surface the range, you make the call.
